 Nancy
Robinson is a painter who works in oil, casein, gouache, egg
tempera and acrylic. She paints psychological portraits against
a background of surreal landscapes.
She has been the
recipient of two Individual Artist Fellowship Grants and an
Artist Initiative Grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, a
Travel and Study Grant from the Jerome, Target and General Mills
Foundations, a Jerome Artist Residency Grant through the
Blacklock Nature Sanctuary and several Jerome Mentor/Protegee
Scholarship Awards through the Women's Art Registry of
Minnesota, where she was a Mentor from 1990-2002.
She
has exhibited her work locally and nationally and is represented
by Flanders Contemporary Art Gallery Minneapolis.
Recent
exhibitions include the "Hair Stories" show at The
Minneapolis Institute of Arts and "Residual Matter" at
A.I.R. Gallery, New York , as well as shows at Artemisia
Gallery, Chicago; the Minneapolis College of Art and Design;
Metropolitan State University (Saint Paul); the College of Saint
Catherine (Saint Paul); The Affordable Art Fair (New York), the
Bird x Bird shows (Minneapolis); No Name at the Soap Factory
(Minneapolis); the Minnesota Historical Society and the
Minnesota State Arts Board.
